This Morning faced a blow as Vanessa Feltz announced their departure from the ITV show after three decades

Vanessa Feltz has candidly discussed her departure from This Morning, admitting she had no desire to leave as she gears up for a new venture with Channel 5.

The seasoned broadcaster, aged 63, confirmed her exit from the beloved ITV daytime show, where she has been a staple for over 30 years.

She’s set to embark on a fresh challenge, helming her own daytime chat show on a competing network. Although Vanessa initially thought she could juggle both positions, it turned out not to be feasible.

In an intimate conversation with the Metro, the television star disclosed that managing both roles simultaneously was impossible, but stressed there was no animosity with ITV bosses, who have been supportive of her move to Channel 5.

Vanessa told the news outlet: “I love This Morning, I would never leave it, I couldn’t love it more. I would happily have stayed and gone on the back of a motorbike from the This Morning studio straight to Channel 5 and done both,” reports Wales Online.

The ex-Big Brother celebrity further shared: “I almost believed I’d be able to do that, but I think apparently, it’s not the way it’s done… but I’d have done it, and I think they would have been happy for me to do it too.”

Moreover, Vanessa emphasised that she had no intention of leaving This Morning and would still be part of the programme if the opportunity with Channel 5 hadn’t come up.

The television icon made it clear that the split was amicable, expressing to the same publication: “I love doing it, they like me, we all love each other, and I know that sounds very cosy and all of that, but it gets like that after a while when you’ve been there so long and know everyone, it’s a great pleasure doing it.”

No stranger to hosting duties, she first graced our screens with her own chat show, Vanessa, on ITV back in 1994. The show enjoyed four successful years before making a move to the BBC and continuing for another two on TalkTV.

Now, she’s set to grace the small screen once more, taking on a daily slot with her latest venture on Channel 5, set to air this week.

Vanessa is geared up to bring viewers her “real, honest and unpredictable” personality as she embarks on tackling current hot topics, with discussions ranging from relationships and parenting to celebrity gossip and fashion.
