Sue and Steve have been on Channel 4’s Gogglebox since 2015 and have delighted viewers with their witty and honest opinions on the week’s television from their South London home
Gogglebox has given Channel 4 viewers a treat over the years and one pair they’ve grown fond of is South London couple Sue and Steve. The duo are often observed in their quirky home on the hit series.
Both in their sixties, with Steve having hung up his black cab keys for retirement and Sue enjoying her semi-retirement, they’re doting parents to two daughters and love spoiling their grandson Roman. Sue opened up about her battle with Bell’s Palsy during an insightful Gogglebox episode in December 2024.
The engaging duo keeps their Instagram followers entertained with updates and snaps from favourite spots and activities.

Their posts include memories from trips to Dubai, a destination they hold dear as their “favourite place”. Their intriguing life story warrants a closer look, reports Bristol Live.
Nearing a remarkable 47 years of marriage, Sue and Steve’s family includes two grown-up daughters. Leah, their firstborn, celebrated crossing into her forties in 2022.
Their home – which hasn’t missed the eagle-eyed attention of viewers – carries an estimated value of £717,430, according to The Tab.
Travel enthusiasts, the pair recently savoured moments at Boys Hall in Kent. Captivated by Kent’s charm, they’ve also visited Whitstable this past year.
In terms of health, Sue took some time off from Gogglebox, later sharing with viewers her ordeal with Bell’s Palsy, which caused her temporary facial paralysis. She opened up to her audience about the challenges following her diagnosis, revealing that she’s had to “relearn” certain basic actions.
She explained: “One is to speak through the side of my mouth, and the other one is chewing. Chewing takes a long time.”
Steve couldn’t help but interject with a bit of humour: “I have offered to chew your food for you, but you declined. I’ve gotta say, you haven’t lost the sharp side of your tongue though, have you?”

The outpouring of support was immediate on social media, with many praising Sue for her bravery and raising awareness about her condition.
Taking to Twitter/ X after an episode in December, one user wrote: “All the best to Sue and big love for bringing Bell’s Palsy to the fore.”
Another added: “Sue and Steve wishing you a speedy recovery from your Bell’s palsy Sue keep being you love seeing you both on Gogglebox.” And a third said: “I love Sue and Steve wishing Sue well.”

Treatment for Bell’s Palsy can include steroids and using drops for eyes if they are difficult to close. The NHS states that most people recover from the illness within six months – but note that it can take longer.
The condition can, on rare occasions, spread to both sides of the face, while more typical symptoms include a drooping eyelid or corner of your mouth, dry mouth or drooling, loss of taste and a dry or watering eye.
