Rylan Clark has made a rare admission about his mum Linda, who has been battling Chrons disease for several years. Celebrity Gogglebox returns to Channel 4 tonight, and fans are over the moon to see Rylan Clark and Linda return to our screens to share their thoughts on the latest TV shows.
Since joining the show in 2019, the pair have become firm fan favourite due to their deeply affectionate and humourous relationship. Away from the TV sofa, the Radio 2 presenter lifted the lid on his mum’s health battle during a segment on This Morning. The broadcaster fronted the ITV show alongside his close friend Josie Gibson when he found himself chatting to Olympic athletes, one of whom had been coached by their parent.

This prompted Rylan to confess that training under his mum for an Olympic event would have spelled catastrophe, jesting that he’d most likely topple the Olympic cauldron in a gaffe, reports the Mirror.
He humorously queried: “How is that [being trained by a parent]? Because I could not think of anything worse than my mum coaching me to try and win an Olympic medal. Could you imagine Linda?!”.
“I mean, I’d probably knock the cauldron over. The torch would go out. It would be terrible. But yours know what they’re talking about, they’re incredible at the sport themselves.”
Celebrity Gogglebox co-star Linda has been through several health scares, including battles with Crohn’s disease and suffered a severe fall while on holiday in 2023, necessitating an emergency hospital visit.
Discussing the unfortunate incident in 2023, Rylan revealed: “So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holiday in a good few years and sadly she’s had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out here.
“She’s not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated. My priority at the moment is my mum. Praying for a successful surgery and a quick recovery.”
Linda’s illness meant she was only able to attend one X Factor live show to support her son. It comes after Rylan and Linda announced their return to the programme this week in a joint video, he said on Instagram: “We’re back on Gogglebox!”
Turning to his mum, the 36-year-old asked: “You excited?”, to which she replied: “Yeah. Oh yeah, I don’t mind.” After complimenting his mum’s make-up for the occasion, Rylan added: “Make sure you’re watching us on Friday, watching TV, with you!”
