Paying tribute to American guitarist boyfriend  John Zambetti at his 78th birthday party, four-times divorced Jane Seymour announced to all present that he’d restored her faith in the opposite sex.

“[Before] I met you…all I know was, I was done. I was never going to allow anyone ever to affect me emotionally ever again,” she declared during a speech in the musician’s honour. Eighteen months into their relationship, Uxbridge-born Jane, who herself turns 74 on Saturday went on to hail him “the most loving human being I know”.

While friends suggest Mr Zambetti’s fast on course to become hubby number five, spare a thought for Jane’s devoted former British beau David Green. Constantly at the Bond girl’s side for almost a decade (his marriage proposal was turned down), film producer Green suddenly got the heave-ho in 2023…

Stephen Fry attends

Weeks since news of the knighthood, luvvie Sir Stephen Fry dubiously claims he’s been reluctant to embrace his full title, remarking: “One’s first response as a British person is to say, ‘Oh no, don’t bother with any of that.’ Then you realise that some people really enjoy calling you by your title and they’re a bit disappointed if you tell them not to. So you just sort of let it happen.”

Sir Stephen’s false modesty has long been his trademark!

Jacob Rees-Mogg

Paying tribute to the Iron Lady, 50 years after she became Tory leader, Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg enthuses: “Her force of personality…even in her frail old age, is utterly memorable.”

Gentlemanly Jacob neglects to add that Lady T once “slapped him down” at lunch held by late businessman Sir David Tang in 1997, when he unwisely attempted to lecture her about the fate of Hong Kong.

Lamenting the fate of gossip in the corporate world, the Reverend Richard Coles now nostalgically recalls: “When I was at the BBC, the only way you ever knew what was going on was on the smoking balcony. It was the one place where people from all departments met and talked.”

Interestingly, the “gossip” over at the Beeb is that Richard “flounced out” of the corporation two years ago after taking umbrage at his Radio 4 show being moved from London to Cardiff!

Doctor Who actor Ncuti Gatwa’s exercise regime raises eyebrows among co-stars: I hear the 32-year-old insists on “getting up at 4am” for daily workouts.

All a far cry from the decadent days of Time Lord predecessor Tom Baker, whose own 4am starts tended to involve coming round in a Soho drinking den.

Cast as the Sheriff of Nottingham in an upcoming series, will Sean Bean be able to avoid yet another on-screen death?

With an estimated 25 violent demises to date, rough diamond Sean often has to grin and bear being reminded about his tally of ill-fated characters. Bean’s latest prospects don’t look promising: the dastardly Sheriff’s perished in all manner of ways in Robin Hood stories down the years.
