Sara Davies has opened up about leaving the hit BBC show Dragons’ Den and she has given insight into who she would like to take her place in the Den
Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies has opened up about her preferred successor on the hit BBC series after announcing her departure.
The 40 year old entrepreneur, who made history as the youngest female dragon when she joined the impressive panel in 2019, is set to leave the show that offers aspiring business minds a chance at securing significant investment.
Speaking candidly to Alex Jones and Clara Amfo on The One Show on Monday (March 10), Sara teased her possible replacement. Alex asked: “You’ve had some guest Dragons which I’ve loved watching, anybody do you think could do it long term?”
She said: “I loved it when Gary was in last year, Gary Neville. I really think he had the empathy and the warmth that I bring to the Den, that’s what I’m worried could be lost.
“So yes, Gary for president!” Sara made the announcement that she was leaving the show earlier this month.

Taking to Instagram at the time, she expressed: “As this last run of Dragons’ comes to an end I have to say I’ve loved every minute of this series so far and I’m so proud of the businesses I’ve invested in this year!”
“As a lot of you will know, I’ve taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter’s Companion and my business is my big priority this year.
“And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons’ Den such a rewarding role.”

While on Monday’s The One Show, the mother of two explained that there was “not enough pieces of me to go around” and that “something had to give”.
However, the budding business owner has also experienced some difficult times of late as Sara, who created the papercraft company Crafter’s Companion, was forced to liquidate her business three days before Christmas.
The star set tongues wagging when she invested a large amount of her own money and received backing from an unknown partner to get her business back on its feet, The Sun reports.
