Mick Jagger’s youngest son, Deveraux Octavian Basil, has been hospitalised following a football accident. The eight year old, who Mick shares with his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, suffered an injury that resulted in his leg being encased in a blue plaster cast.

A distressed Melanie, who has been in a relationship with the Rolling Stones frontman since 2014, confessed, “Nothing feels more true—When they hurt you hurt (crying emoji).”

However, she remained optimistic about her son’s recovery, adding: “He’ll be back playing football again in no time though! !” Deveraux, affectionately known as Devi, was pictured navigating the hospital on crutches. While Melanie keeps her relationship with Mick private, she often shares updates about their son and her dancing career.

Mick is a father to eight children, including Karis, 54, Jade, 53, Lizzie, 40, James, 39, Georgia May, 33, Gabriel, 27, Lucas, 25 and Deveraux. Devi was born in 2016, which left his parents “surprised and happy”.

Mick also became a great-grandfather after his granddaughter Assisi Jackson welcomed a baby girl in 2021, reports the Mirror.

Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s love story began amidst the glitz of a Rolling Stones Tokyo tour, but it wasn’t until Zurich that their romance took the spotlight.

The couple proudly announced the birth of their son, Deveraux “Devi” Octavian Basil Jagger, with their representative stating: “Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s son was born today in New York and they are both delighted. Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well.”

The name Octavian resonates with ‘born eighth’ in Latin, paying homage to Mick’s father Basil, who passed away in 2006.

Young Deveraux is already showing signs of following in his illustrious parents’ footsteps, with a budding interest in music and dance. Melanie revealed to The New York Times in 2019, “He dances a ton,” adding that her son also enjoys playing the ukulele and creating his own tunes, hinting at an inherited artistic flair.

Last year, Deveraux became an internet sensation as he channeled his dad’s iconic moves backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in Liverpool.

Melanie captured the moment on Instagram, showing little Deveraux grooving in true rockstar fashion, donning a Rolling Stones tee and skinny jeans, while Mick serenaded fans with “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”

Melanie simply captioned the adorable video with “Vibes,” as her son stole hearts just like his legendary father.

Melanie, a former ballerina, has ventured into the world of literature, publishing a series of risque novels. Her debut book, First Position, was released last year and was dubbed a ‘ballet bonkbuster’.

It was Mick who spurred Melanie to take up writing and he has been her staunch supporter ever since, even assisting her in selecting the right words for her work. In an interview with The Times, Melanie shared: “Thrusting, throbbing, pulsating. Just go to the thesaurus. That’s what Mick said – he’s, like, ‘Throbbing was used a lot in book two.’”.
