EXCLUSIVE: Meghan Markle may not have officially parted ways from the Royal Family following her solo Netflix debut, according to an expert.

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show aptly titled With Love, Meghan was met with mixed reviews when it launched on the streaming platform but much to her delight the lifestyle programme has been renewed for a second season.

One scene from the hotly anticipated project recently when viral when Meghan corrected her pal Mindy Kaling over her royal title. Kaling joined the Duchess of Sussex for the second episode of the show, as Markle showed all of her tips and tricks for hosting a children’s party.

During their time together, they made tea sandwiches, ladybug crudités and put together a balloon arch. However, while they prepared dishes the Duchess corrected her friend on-air.

“It’s so funny too, that you keep saying ‘Meghan Markle,” The Duchess told The Mindy Project star. “You know I’m Sussex now,” she added.

PR expert Edward Coram-James, CEO of Go Up has shared his thoughts on the on-air interaction and said it suggested Meghan has not fully cut ties with the royals despite her recent rebrand.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, he shared: “Let’s look at the facts: In her conversation with Mindy Kaling in ‘With Love, Meghan, she corrected Mindy when she referred to her as ‘Meghan Markle’ — Meghan insisted on ‘Sussex.’

“This was no casual remark; it was a clear reminder that she still identifies with her royal title, even though she and Harry stepped back from official duties.

“If she were truly moving on, she would embrace her identity as Meghan Markle and leave the royal branding behind.”

Appearing on Thursday’s edition of The View, host Alyssa Farah Griffin brought up the moment, asking Mindy what the experience was like for her.

The Never Have I Ever creator explained that she hadn’t even remembered the moment initially because the filming had taken place nearly nine months ago.

“We were making sandwiches, and then they’ll push in on my face on TikTok and they’ll be like, ‘Look at this emotion you felt,’ and I honestly didn’t even remember it,” she said.

As Mindy and Meghan’s conversation unfolded on the Netflix programme the Duchess clarified she wants to use Sussex as it is her children, Archie and Lilibet’s surname.
