Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has shared the four-word secret to his 35 year marriage, and offered insights into his unconventional living arrangements with his extended family.
The Changing Rooms star, who is due to appear in the upcoming Netflix show Celebrity Bear Hunt, revealed that he will celebrate his 35th wedding anniversary with his wife, Jackie Bowen, this year.
Laurence met his wife, with whom he shares two daughters, Cecile and Hermione, and four grandchildren, Albion, Demelza, Romily, and Eleanora, when he was just 19.
With three and a half decades of wedded bliss under his belt, many people will be wondering what the interior designer’s secret is; well, Laurence has boiled it down to just four words.
Laurence wrote for Saga: “This summer, there’s also our 35th wedding anniversary. Although it’s known as ‘coral’, Jackie decided that every anniversary would be diamonds. Well, why wouldn’t you?”

He continued: “Is there a secret to a long and happy marriage? Yes, total and utter obedience. I was only 19 when I met Jackie but we clicked immediately.”
Laurence also offered insights into his home life in their 17th-century manor house, explaining that they live in the property with his children, their partners, and his grandchildren.
The house, situated near Cirencester, has been split into three, meaning they all have separate homes within the same property, with Laurence saying they’ve divided up the “land, the deeds, everything”.
He also disclosed that the entire family regularly gathers in the afternoon for food and drinks, with the gang using this time to engage in conversation, and the kids enjoying time to play.

It follows shocking news that Laurence revealed he nearly died while filming Celebrity Bear Hunt. In one challenge, the designer jumped into a lake from a boat, but he got tangled up in a rope and was stuck underwater.
He told Radio Times Magazine: “I’m not going to blow too much of the surprise but it was literally, I think, one of the few times I have come face to face with mortality.”
In the show, hosted by daytime TV legend Holly Willoughby, 12 celebrities, including Boris Becker, Shirley Ballas and Mel B, are put through their paces in the Costa Rican jungle, where they serve as prey for survival expert Bear Grylls.
