Emmerdale enthusiasts were left utterly astounded upon hearing the real accent of Eden Taylor-Draper, who portrays Belle Dingle on the revered ITV soap. Embarking on her Emmerdale journey in 2005 at the tender age of eight, Eden has seen Belle evolve into one of the show’s beloved characters.

Over the years, Belle has been central to a whirlwind of compelling plots, from the harrowing fatality of her best friend to an astonishing liaison with the local GP. Her tenure in the Dales has been nothing shy of tumultuous.

The last year, particularly, saw Belle become ensnared in a chilling narrative of domestic abuse by her vile spouse Tom King, portrayed by James Chase, enduring gaslighting and physical torment for more than twelve months.

The grim chapter finally concluded last year with Tom behind bars, sentenced to three years after being convicted of assault and exercising controlling and manipulative behavior.

It’s widely acknowledged that Eden’s rendition of this complex character has resonated profoundly with audiences, leading to her garnering multiple accolades such as the Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor or Actress and the Best Young Performance award at the British Soap Awards.

Yet, it’s not only her on-screen prowess grabbing attention — fans recently experienced a moment of disbelief when they encountered Eden’s actual speaking voice off the set. In response to a TikTok interview featuring the star, one viewer exclaimed in surprise: “I didn’t expect Eden to speak so beautifully.”

Another viewer was taken aback by the actress’s authentic accent, commenting: “It’s so strange to hear how Eden really talks.”

This sentiment was shared by another fan who added: “Same! I can’t get over her real voice.”

The surprise continued with a fellow admirer noting: “Saw her on This Morning, speaking her own voice. Completely different! I hardly recognised her.”

2023 is a landmark year for Eden as she commemorates two decades with her beloved cast. During a May interview on Lorraine, hosted by Christine Lampard, Eden couldn’t hide her excitement about the upcoming milestone.

She enthused: “I can’t believe this, I was 7 or 8 when I joined, it will be 20 years next year. The Dingles started this tradition where when you get to a big anniversary you get an engraved bracelet from the Dingles, so I really want that bracelet – there’s only a few Jim, Jeff, Jane had one so I feel like I want to be in the gang, I’m nearly there!”
