Megan McKenna has recounted the heart-stopping moment she rushed her baby son to hospital after he had been left screaming and throwing up.
The 31-year-old reality star welcomed her son, named Landon, last October – along with 27-year-old footballer fiancé Oliver Burke. In the months since welcoming her baby, Michelle has been keeping fans and social media followers updated on her experience as a mother – sharing video clips and commentary via her online platforms.
On Friday, the former The Only Way Is Essex star took to Instagram Stories to reveal she had been forced to take her young son to hospital after he fell ill. She detailed that baby Landon had been left in distress and dehydrated after he experienced vomiting and after he became inconsolable.
The reality star explained that she trusted her instincts that something could have been seriously wrong and rushed her baby to A&E – and urged other new mums not to doubt themselves too. Those that follow her, will already know that Landon has struggled with digestion and had been given medication to help him combat painful reflux – and Megan revealed that his condition worsened when she was told to stop giving him the treatment.

Sharing a photo of Landon asleep in a crib, she wrote: “One thing I’m learning about being a mum, always trust your gut. I was told to stop Landon’s omeprazole by his paediatrician. This made me feel really uncomfortable as I begged to get him on it in the first place due to him having terrible reflux from 6 weeks. He finally has got himself to a good place after being on the baby omep for 4 months.”
She continues: “I begged to get more but was told he needs to stop now. Because I was told to stop when I really didn’t want to, I’m now sitting on a baby ward after being in A&E all last night because Landon has got gradually worse throwing up so much it was scary. Screaming in pain and reaching till his face turned red and had now become dehydrated from all the vomiting.”
The concerned mum went on: “The paediatrician at the hospital I’m in now is very confused at why he was told to stop taking it and should be on it for at least 6 months. After last night he is being put [straight] back on it and has just had his first dose. He was kept in overnight to be monitored and to have fluids put back into his body. Thankfully Landon’s back to his happy self again. He even woke up with a smile. But we’re now back on the omeprazole journey.”
She added: “Thank you to all the nurses and doctors that looked after Landon on the dolphin ward… I really appreciate everything you done for me and Landon.” She ended the message with a red heart emoji.
She then shared another photo of Landon with an IV attached to his tiny hand. She wrote: “His teeny baby hand. He was so stressed and confused having this cannula put in. I’m so upset his reflux got this bad. Moving forward, I won’t be taking no for an answer.”
She wrote: “You as a mum knows best. He’s having a few days for his tummy to settle with the omen and then they told me to wean him slowly again along side the omeprazole. Honestly reflux is awful for our tiny babies. I just want to make sure he doesn’t have to go through that again.”
