Gaby Roslin, the cherished television presenter known for her stints on Morning Live, Children In Need and the iconic The Big Breakfast, is renowned for her radiant smile and boundless energy. But recently the star revealed that embracing happiness is a deliberate choice she makes daily – even when facing life’s toughest challenges, like coping with bereavement.

“It’s about finding the joy in the small things, and I think we’ve forgotten that,” she shared to OK! magazine ahead of her exciting Saturday show premiere on Magic Radio. “The news is very bleak and life is very, very tough for lots of people so I’m not just saying, ‘If you smile everything will be better’, but you do have to look for those little nuggets of joy.”

Despite her unwavering effort to stay positive, Gaby isn’t shielded from the harsh realities of life, which can hit hard as one ages. She openly shares her struggles, including witnessing her mother’s battle with lung cancer in 1997 and her father’s stroke shortly after.

Nearly three decades since her mother Jackie’s passing, Gaby still occasionally feels a deep sorrow, mourning not just her mother’s death, but also all that she has missed without her, reports the Mirror.

Gaby revealed with a heavy heart how grief struck her unexpectedly, saying: “There was something on the radio this morning, and they read out something about somebody saying their kids never got a chance to meet their grandmother.

“My mum died 28 years ago, and it just got me in my stomach. I always say to people when they lose someone, ‘Just remember, there are no rules to grief.’ And now here I am 28 years later, like somebody had hit me in my tummy.”

“I talk about her and there are photos of her around the house, so my kids do talk about Granny, even though they never met her.”

Sadly, Gaby’s children, Libbi-Jack, 23, from her first marriage, and Amelie, 17, have never known their maternal grandmother. She continues to keep her mother’s memory alive.

The star celebrated her 38th year last month and has just secured her own solo show on Magic Radio. She will be bringing her vibrant energy to the nation every Saturday morning. Her career began in satellite television in January 1987, before she transitioned to more mainstream shows like The Big Breakfast and Motormouth.

Despite nearly four decades in the industry, Gaby admits that she still experiences new job jitters. However, she’s not bothered by it.

“I get ner-cited, as I call it, I get very nervous and excited but it’s good, I love the adrenaline and there’s nothing quite like live radio and television. I’m very lucky because I’ve got my live Sunday show at the BBC, live Saturdays on Magic Radio and Morning Live during the week, there’s a lot of ‘live’ in there and I couldn’t be happier!”
