MARIAH Carey has sparked concern with her ‘slurred speech’ during the iHeartRadio Awards, with fans insisting ‘there is something wrong!’

But, while she was honored for her decades-long career and contributions to the music industry, some viewers couldn’t help but notice something was off.

Taking the stage in true diva fashion, Mariah immediately focused on the lighting, jokingly asking, “Is the lighting okay? Because I don’t like bad lighting. Okay. Do you like the ensemble?”

The comment was met with laughter but, as she continued her speech, fans began questioning her delivery.

She thanked iHeartRadio, LL Cool J, who presented her with the gong, and her longtime supporters.

She even made a playful remark about modern technology, saying, “Now, for those of you who may not know what airwaves are, think of it as the non-WiFi version of streaming. Okay? All right.”

However, as the speech went on, Mariah’s words appeared slightly slurred, and her tone seemed off to some listeners.

She continued by acknowledging John Sykes, her first manager, making a cryptic reference to people assuming someone else held that role.

Mariah quipped, “Some people think it was this other guy, but it wasn’t him. It was John.”

She concluded her speech by thanking her fans and paying tribute to her mother, saying, “On this St. Patrick’s Day, I want to honor my mother, Patricia Carey, for giving me the gift of music.

“Thank you so much. Love you, love you, love you.”

FAN REACTION

After the speech was posted on TikTok, the comments section was flooded with reactions, with many expressing worry over her health.

Fans pointed out that Mariah has seemed “lethargic” and not herself in recent years.

Some noted that since her split with Bryan Tanaka, 41, she has been lip-syncing more frequently and appearing less energetic.

One wrote, “I’ve been really concerned about her since last year tbh. She always just seems low energy and out of it.

“It may sound weird to say but I hope that it’s just her still recovering from the loss of her mother & sister and not something more.”

Someone else agreed, “Tbh Mariah hasn’t been the same since around the time she broke up with Tanaka.

“Ever since, shes been completely lip syncing, very lethargic looking and just all around not the same Mariah overall.

“It seems like her health has drastically changed for the worse unfortunately. Hope she gets the help she needs to get better.”

A third added, “Something has been wrong for quite a few years now… I hate it.”

Another asked, “She definitely sounds odd. What is going on?”

One more concluded, “She was def reading off a teleprompter but everything didn’t seem 100% okay…”

Mariah split with Bryan after seven years together.

They were rumored to have parted ways after Tanaka was not present on Mariah’s Merry Christmas One and All! tour in November 2023 and skipped her annual Aspen trip.

He later announced their breakup on Instagram on December 26, writing, “With mixed emotions, I share this personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together.

“Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared.”

Mariah was previously married to American businessman Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998.

She later wed Nick Cannon in 2008, and they welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan in 2011, but they split up in 2014.

Mariah was also previously engaged to Australian billionaire James Packer.

In December, The U.S. Sun reported Mariah and Anderson Paak had developed a ‘flirty connection’ after spending months hanging out in the studio working on music together.

But sources claimed he’s become a ‘Hollywood ladies’ man’.

The pair sparked romance rumors after they were seen holding hands leaving a restaurant in Aspen over Christmas.

Photographs showed a beaming Mariah with Anderson, who put his arm around her waist and escorted her out.
