EXCLUSIVE: Springwatch favourite Megan McCubbin has teased some of the exciting new changes being made to the BBC show ahead of the show’s 20th anniversary.
Springwatch star Megan McCubbin has teased a major makeover for the beloved BBC nature series.
The evening show will soon be back on our screens and this time it will be broadcast from a brand-new location. Over the past few years, the long-running show has been based in the RSPB Arne in the heart of Dorset.
Springwatch has previously been filmed in Corfe Castle, Skomer, Llyn Peninsula in Wales, North Dorset chalk grasslands, and Eryri in Wales. To mark the BBC show’s 20th anniversary, the programme is set to return with a bang in just a few months’ time with a whole host of exciting changes.
Now, in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the 30-year-old zoologist has lifted the lid on what fans can look forward to for the milestone series.
The TV star – who is speaking at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show in NEC Birmingham this week – told us: “I know that we’re going to be moving to a new location, which will be good.

“We’ve had our last time at RSPB Arne which was obviously an amazing host for Springwatch for the last couple of years. So there’ll be a new location for Spring 2025, and I think it’s going to lead to some really interesting character stories, new species, and a different kind of landscape”.
The animal expert went on to add that there will be more unfamiliar faces on the BBC show, especially from young people who are passionate about wildlife and the show. Megan continued: “I think it’s going to feel different in that sense and hopefully get some more younger voices on the show.
“I mean, we’re quite good at that in our films of trying to highlight young people’s voices, but I can never get enough of it. I always want to lift people up to give them the opportunity to start to tell the stories that’s important to them.
“So, the more young people we can get on there, the better. Communication about nature and the environment in ways that perhaps hasn’t been done before can give it a fresh new feel.”
The brunette beauty went on to add that each series always brings something new to the table due to the drama that unfolds in the wildlife.

She went on: “It’s always exciting, every Watch feels different because the drama is always so different that the animals bring to the show, you never really know what’s going to happen.
“I think it’s part of the charm of it. Even when we start the show, we’ve got no idea what’s going to happen at the end of the week and that’s what makes it so good.”
Zoologist Megan McCubbin will be speaking at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show on Saturday, February 22 about wildlife and camping.
Megan will be sharing how her interest in wildlife and zoology startted, her favourite places to spot wildlife and her experiences camping and campervanning.
Speaking about her upcoming show, she gushed: “I’m really excited to be speaking on the Saturday for the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show. It’s a really cool exhibition filled with all these different campervans and camping equipment, everything that you might need to go on your holiday.
“I’m really excited about it because I think people are looking more towards going on holidays locally and I’m a big champion for people appreciating what’s on their doorstep.
“So, if you can go in a campervan or go camping in some of the most beautiful places that the UK has to offer, and if you can travel sustainably to parts of Europe to go camping there, then why not?
“It’s an amazing thing to do and I think people will be surprised to learn about the biodiversity that we have here. So, I’ll be talking a little bit about my experiences out in nature when I’ve been camping while up in Scotland and the wildlife that I got to see and how important it is that we unite together to be able to protect it”.
The show returns to the NEC Birmingham from Tuesday, February 18 to Sunday, February 23 2025, and tickets are now on sale at ccmshow.co.uk.
