Pope Francis is battling double pneumonia in hospital where he was admitted on February 14.
The Vatican says Pope Francis had a quiet night in hospital
Sky News interrupted their regular programming to cut to presenter Lisa Holland for a breaking update about Pope Francis health.
The veteran reporter is in Vatican City where she has been following the story of the Pontiff’s hospital stay. She sheltered from the heavy rain under an umbrella as she spoke.
“Just one line, as we have come to expect with these morning updates, that the Pope had a peaceful night and is resting,” she said.
“I think throughout the course of today, what we really will be waiting for news on is the results of the CT scan which Pope Francis underwent at the Gemelli Hospital yesterday.
“Sky News was told that we would be given the results of that CT scan today. Why it is of interest, I think, is because it should give doctors a real sense as to whether or not Francis is winning his battle against pneumonia in both lungs,” she explained.

“That scan should give them a clear view of the extent of the infection and whether or not the treatment programme that he has been undergoing is working.
“The suggestion from the Vatican (is) that the Pope will attempt, even in his fragile state, to have another visitor.
“Today, we’re told to expect a visit from the Vicar General of the Diocese of Rome. If that goes ahead that will only be the third person to visit Pope Francis since he went into hospital on February the 14th.
“Previously, he had a visit from the secretary of state of the Vatican, and he was also visited last mid week, last week by the Italian Prime Minister.
“Meanwhile, of course, the Vatican is saying that his mild kidney problem persists and he remains on oxygen,” she said.

The 88-year-old was initally admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on February 14 after experiencing breathing difficulties for several days.
Although initially treated for bronchitis, he was later diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs.
On Sunday, Francis asked Catholics worldwide to pray for him, saying in a message: “I am confidently continuing my hospitalisation at the Gemelli Hospital, carrying on with the necessary treatment; and rest is also part of the therapy!”
He expressed gratitude to the doctors, hospital staff, and well-wishers, particularly children who had sent letters and drawings.
