Sky News was halted for a major announcement about the US and Ukraine after Donald Trump’s tense meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky last week.

US to stop sharing some intelligence information with Ukraine

Sky News was halted for an urgent announcement about the United States and Ukraine. Jayne Secker paused the programme to reveal that the US has stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine.

Secker began: “In the last few minutes, a bit of breaking news we can bring you from our security and defence editor, Deborah Haynes. She has been told that the US has stopped sharing some intelligence with Ukraine that could be used to launch attacks inside Russia.

“This has come in from a Ukrainian source. The source said American intelligence sharing has not haltered completely, describing the move as selective, indicating this means that US intelligence would still be shared with Ukraine that could be used to attack Russian forces or Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory.

“This is, of course, another blow for Kiev after Donald Trump decided to pause military aid following that difficult conversation with president Zelensky on Friday.”

Last week, the Ukrainian president arrived in Washington to sign a mineral deal which was set to preserve US backing. While it was hoped that the meeting would strengthen a difficult relationship between the new administration in the White House and Kyiv, it ended in a fiery row between Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump, 78, accused Zelensky, 47, of “gambling with World War Three” in a series of testy exchanges, while Zelensky warned that the US would “feel it in the future” if it did not continue to support Ukraine.

“Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel. We’re trying to solve a problem,” Trump hit back.

Trump launched another scathing attack on Zelensky earlier in the week, claiming the Ukrainian President “doesn’t want there to be peace”.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, the US President had a furious reaction to comments from Zelensky that a deal to end the war between Ukraine and Russia remains “very, very far away”.

Trump wrote: “This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelensky, and America will not put up with it for much longer!

“It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. – Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?”
