Who Wants To Be A Millionaire viewers were stunned as a player used three lifelines on ‘such an easy question’.
The popular ITV quiz show, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, 64, saw Olympic cyclist Dame Laura Kenny and Channel 4 presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy take part in the celebrity special on Sunday.
Dame Laura played to raise money for the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and started strong but found herself stuck on the £16,000 question.
It read: ‘Which of these 1980s films have sequels called Afterlife and Frozen Empire?’
Laura was presented with the following options, A) Top Gun, B) The Terminator, C) Ghostbusters or D) Blade Runner.
She ended up using three lifelines on the question and first asked Jeremy, who wasn’t able to help.

Then, she used 50/50 which left C – Ghostbusters and D – Blade Runner, but she still wasn’t able to decide on an answer so chose to phone a friend and called her father for help.

Anton Du Beke is baffled as he stumps on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire dance question

He said: ‘I really don’t know, It’s going to be a guess, and I’d go for Blade Runner.’
In the end, Laura decided against risking selecting the wrong answer and chose to cash out, bagging £8,000 for her chosen charity.
She said: ‘I think that I probably wouldn’t get the next question right anyways because I’ve got no lifelines left and I feel like that amount of money would mean a huge amount to the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and that would be one heck of a risk I think to just have a desk and just roll so I think I’m going to take the money, thank you very much.’
Viewers took to social media to give their verdict on how she handled the question, with one calling it ‘madness’.
Someone posted on X: ‘Using the lifelines on these questions is just madness #whowantstobeamillionaire.’;
‘Laura Kenny has just burned through her lifelines on the £16,000 question. How could she not know that Afterlife and Frozen Empire are sequels to Ghostbusters? It’s a relief she took the £8,000 and didn’t ‘roll the dice’ and go with Blade Runner. #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.’;

‘I’ve not seen any of the Ghostbuster Sequels but logic would surely lead you to that answer?! #whowantstobeamillionaire.’

How many lifelines would you have needed?
Defending Laura, another penned: ‘Er, maybe she’s been too busy winning gold medals to go to the cinema much?! #whowantstobeamillionaire.’
Earlier this month, Jeremy responded after ‘breaking a huge rule’ on another celebrity special.
The previous episode saw Anton Du Beke, 58, Fred Sirieix, 53, and Roxy Shahidi, 41, attempt to win money for charity.
However, when it was the First Dates host’s turn to answer the quiz questions, he found himself struggling at the very first question, worth £100.
Jeremy, 64, asked: ‘Which of these is a method for staying afloat in a swimming pool? Treading water, drinking water, boiling water or passing water.’
Fred, whose daughter recently won a bronze medal in synchronised diving at the Paris Olympics, began to deliberate between the answers and said, ‘So, definitely not drinking water, can’t be boiling water, so it’s either passing water or treading water.’
He used the 50/50 help which removed boiling and drinking water, leaving him stuck.
Jeremy said: ‘You know what, I’m going to put you out of my misery.’
‘Treading water is that, as you rightly say’ he added, moving his legs in an attempt to help. ‘Oh look over there… passing water.’

Fred responded: ‘So final answer, treading water.’
‘I don’t know how you worked that out but well done,’ Jeremy quipped.
Afterwards, one viewer posted on X: ‘Is that allowed @Jeremy Clarkson is giving away the answer on #Millionaire.’
To which the presenter responded with: ‘Not really. But it was for charity and it was low down the ladder.’
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Celebrity Special airs on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
