Former model Katie Price has returned to the road after previously being banned from driving for two years after she crashed her BMW in September 2021.

Katie Price has revealed her surprisingly low car insurance price after being banned from driving. The former glamour model opened up about returning to the road on her podcast.

The 47-year-old had previously been banned following a crash near her home in Sussex in September 2021. She was slapped with a 16-week suspended jail sentence and handed a £880 fine.

Despite not being allowed to drive, she was found guilty of driving without insurance and without a driver’s licence in March last year at Northampton Magistrates’ Court.

In the latest episode of her podcast with her sister, Katie candidly shared what it was like getting back into driving. She commented, “New year, new start manifesting. Already, good stuff has happened. Jobs are on my way, but the most important thing is me getting back to driving.

“Now I got my licence back two years after I should have got it back because I had the problem with DVLA and people emailing in. I got my licence back but I couldn’t get insured on any of the cars – it was going to cost be £150k a year, £7k a month, who’s going to pay that, that’s ridiculous.”

She added: “So I went to rent a car, I could rent a car and pay £1,600 a month to rent a car, and I thought, ‘oh let’s just see if I can get insured on my car’ and it went through. I’ve now got normal insurance for £800 a year – fully comp and I’m so happy.”

The TV star was kicked out of her £2 million Mucky Mansion in May last year after being handed an ‘eviction notice’ during her second battle with bankruptcy.

According to The Mirror, she was sent a letter by Horsham County Court dated April 24 2024, stating that ‘the eviction will take place on May 29, 2024, at 10am’.

Katie, who was previously declared bankrupt in 2019, moved into her £2 million mansion in 2014. The model is believed to owe £761,994.05 to HM Revenue and Customs, a court was told in March 2024.

She had previously been warned that she could lose her home if she failed to pay the £750,000 sum in tax, VAT, and other fees. The mansion originally cost her £1.4 million and was recently featured in a Channel 4 renovation series.

Last year, Katie spoke about her “money woes” but insisted that nobody would take her mansion away. She said: “You’ve followed my life, my journey, I say it as it is. Yes, I’m in a bankruptcy. But guess what? I own my house. No one could take it off me as well.”
