A former star of The Apprentice has lifted the lid on the BBC bonk-ban that saw the reality show house policed ‘like a nunnery.’

Sabrina, who narrowly missed out on the series 14 finals in 2018, recounted how stars were hardly ever left alone and were watched like hawks when it came to interacting with the opposite sex.

Middlesex-born Sabrina took part in the series which was won by clothing boss Sian Gabbidon,31, with Lord Sugar investing £250,000 in her bespoke swimwear company Sian Marie Fashion.

However he parted ways with Sian in 2022 shortly before hiring his next business partner Harpreet Kaur.

Reflecting on their time together in the show Sabrina joked: ‘The candidates were treated like children rather than aspiring business leaders.

‘In the house I think around 14 of the candidates were in relationships with just myself and another guy being single.

‘The production crew were paranoid about affairs happening and every time they saw me talking to one of the male candidates off camera they’d swoop in and pull us apart.

‘Even though the boys slept on separate floors to the girls they’d have crew members sleeping on the landings to make sure nothing naughty was going on once the lights went off.

‘We’d be chaperoned everywhere to the supermarket and gym even the toilets. It was comical almost like living in a nunnery.

‘I see one of the new batch has already been caught in a hotel room with one of her rivals which made me laugh.’

However the Big Brother-style supervision wasn’t the only hardship Sabrina endured.

Her time on the show was almost cut short when she was bitten on the arm by a False Widow Spider during a gardening task.

She remembered: ‘I started getting a fever and by the next episode when we were in Glasgow I ended up in hospital on antibiotics.

‘The production crew wanted me to leave the show on medical grounds but I refused.

‘On another occasion one of the lads broke his arm after having an arm wrestling competition with another candidate.

‘The producers kept all these stories out of the press.

‘Back then you had to sign a NDA agreeing not to speak about the show for three years which was ridiculous.

‘You were not exactly spilling state secrets!’

Prior to joining the show Sabrina ran her own tennis events company before the pandemic closed the business.

She then set up a successful website called Shopping Slot where you’d type in your postcode and find out local delivery slots.

Now she runs her own business PR company Two Comma PR.

The Apprentice candidate dramatically QUITS the series – leaving Lord Sugar stunned

When asked about her thoughts on the current series, Sabrina didn’t hold back in slamming the format.

‘Lord Sugar bangs on about the bottom line in business. During our series we were getting an average of seven millions viewers per episode,’ she said.

‘The opening episode of last year’s series got an average of 3.6 million viewers down 1.2 million on the previous year. That tells you everything.

‘What hasn’t helped the show has been the quality of candidates which has been frankly embarrassing which I think is the reason so many viewers have switched off.

‘They are more interested in the cult of celebrity rather than business – spending more time perfecting their Instagram photos rather than their business plans.’

She even said the BBC should sack Lord Sugar and focus their efforts on a new show.

‘As he would say himself ‘you’re fired’ as there is no room for sentiment and standing still in business and TV!’ she went on.

‘I will always love the show for the opportunities it gave me, but even the biggest fans can see it has hit a brick wall in terms of inspiration and credibility.

‘From Lord Sugar’s scripted cringe-worthy gags to the same tired tasks everyone including advisors Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell look like they are going through the motions.

‘Modern business today is all about the internet and AI but you hardly see the candidates using technology.

‘Watching them run around like headless chickens with maps and pens and paper looks so out of touch.’

The Apprentice airs on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and is available to stream on iPlayer.
