Sir Rod Stewart cancelled two of his Las Vegas shows in the past week as he recovers from flu.

Rod Stewart has shared a sweet interaction with collaborator Jools Holland as he continues to rest under doctors orders. Sir Rod took to Instagram on Thursday June 5 to announce he was forced to cancel his show that night in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas after being struck down with flu. This was the second show he had missed in a week.

As he recuperates Rod posted a clip, which appeared to have been filmed some time ago, and featured him sitting in a recording studio with Jools discussing the song Almost Like Being In Love. “I love this song but I didn’t really know this song till I heard (you sing it) it. I’ll tell you what I love about this particularly, is, honestly, sometimes you don’t get the song till the singer, sings it, and then when you sang this, I thought, wow, that’s one of the best songs ever,” Jools gushed to his friend.

Maggie May hitmaker Rod seemed surprised by this admission and enquired: “You’d never heard the song?”

“I’d heard it, but..it never, sort of struck me. But then you sing it, and I thought ‘oh, it’s great’ he gushed as Rod smiled: “That’s my mate.”

The video was likely filmed last year when the pair were promoting their album Swing Fever which saw Rod tackle popular classics backed by Jools, including Almost Like Being In Love.

Rod simply captioned the clip: “@jools.holland.official and I were having a good chat about Almost Like Being in Love. One of our favourites off the Swing Fever album.” The post sparked many messages of support from fans, as one said: “Same!! There were so many of THOSE songs that never mattered to me UNTIL Sir Rod Stewart Sang them! MY FAVE is he and Dolly P!”

Another added: “This album is wonderful, I love all the songs. When I listen to it, it feels like I’m dancing in a 1920s ballroom. You guys were very lucky in your choice of songs.”

It comes after Rod was forced to cancel his latest show. Announcing his show cancellation on June 5 Rod wrote: “I’m awfully sorry to have to cancel my show June 5th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

“My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding – Rod,” accompanied by a heart emoji.

On Monday June 2 he had been forced to reschedule another show setting a new date for June 10th.

He told fans at the time: “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10. Your tickets will be valid for the new date.”
