Vernon has been feeling ‘ropey’ recently
TV and radio star Vernon Kay revealed he is feeling “terrible” as he opens up about his health diagnosis.
During his BBC Radio 2 show yesterday (May 29), Vernon said he was feeling a “bit ropey”. The 51-year-old informed viewers he suffers from a seafood allergy.

As a result, he is unable to eat a variety of small edible shellfish, such as prawns or cockles. He discovered he had this allergy after being tested.
However, Vernon revealed he might need to have another test after listeners were concerned for his health.
While promoting Radio 1’s Big Weekend event in Liverpool, Vernon said: “Radio 1, how are you feeling? A bit ropey, no, honestly, terrible, I’m sure I’ve eaten a prawn or a cockle. I’m allergic to cockles.
When Vernon was questioned if his allergy had ever become a “big problem,” he insisted it isn’t.
“It’s not like I stumble upon a pot of cockles on a regular basis, but, you know, when you do one of them tests where they check your blood. I did it ages ago but I’m going to do another one because I talk about it on the radio and a lot of people think I might be lactose intolerant. Honestly, I’ve been diagnosed by the nation without having a face-to-face consultation,” he said.
As Vernon prepares to have another test, he revealed that he will be supported by his wife, Tess Daly.
“Tess Daly from Strictly Come Dancing is going to do one and I’m going to do one as well. The last one I did, yeah, cockles,” he added.

Tess reveals ‘battle’ with husband Vernon
During an appearance on the Power Hour podcast with Adrienne Herbert, Tess opened up about the one thing she avoids doing with hubby Vernon.
“If we went to the gym together, which is basically a shed at the bottom of our garden with a few mats on the floor and a few weights, I’d get in there, and he is very knowledgeable, bless him, and he tries, but he’s like: ‘Yeah, do this, this is better for you and makes the muscle extension work better,’” she said.
“And I’m a bit like: ‘Okay, I know what I’m doing, I’m just going to go over here with my little dumbbells. I’m going to do this, and I know what works for me.’ So it gets a bit like the battle of who knows the most.”
Tess added: “So yeah, he means really well but I would rather just do it on my own. Then I can just focus.”
