Inside Dancing On Ice and skating legend Jayne Torvill’s lavish home featuring a one-of-a-kind mural
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean‘s retirement will mean a lot more time for both at home with their families and the former has shared a glimpse into her lavish house.
The ice skating icon, 66, lives in the heart of East Sussex with her husband Phil Christensen and their children Kieran and Jessica.
Torvill and Dean announced their retirement on Valentine’s Day, 40 years on from their famous Winter Olympics win in 1984, making their announcement on Instagram.
While the rest of Jayne’s profile is dominated by her Dancing On Ice work, she does share the occasional window into her home life.
Front and centre in many of her posts from home, are the family’s adorable dogs – a Jack Russell named Lulu and a Terrier called Freddie.

Jayne and Phil (left, with Jayne and their children) celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in 2021
After an impressive career both on and off the ice, the star boasts a glamorous home with numerous spacious rooms, not least a statement kitchen.
The gorgeous open-plan space extends into a dining room and living room which are wonderfully lit by huge windows opening onto the garden opposite an enormous and unique mural of a tree.
Jayne’s cottage core theme is strong with a cream tartan sofa and brown leather cushions and a matching armchair on a vast rug.
Outside, the skating star has a huge garden which is classily planted up with flowers in matching turquoise plant pots and shrubs and trees emerging from every border.
The large patio hosts an impressive outdoor dining table with comfortable room for eight as well as reclining deckchairs and a wooden bench.
Now grateful for the space with two children and two dogs, Jayne and her husband of over 30 years previously opened up about their struggles starting a family.
The dancer broke down in tears discussing her IVF ordeal on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories with her on-the-rink partner in 2013.
After leaving it late to start a family to accommodate her career, Jayne suffered an ectopic pregnancy – when a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the womb – before 12 months of IVF treatment.

Eventually, Jayne and Phil decided to adopt.
‘As a couple skating together it’s easy for the guy to go off and start a family because it wouldn’t affect his skating, whereas for me it would have stopped what we were doing. So I left it quite late,’ Jayne explained, ‘and I was into my forties by then.
‘And having an ectopic pregnancy as well, I got pregnant quite quickly and I thought, “Oh, this is fine.”
‘And when I went to have a scan they said I had an ectopic pregnancy, and I didn’t know what that meant.
‘They said, “The embryo’s growing in one of the tubes.” And I said, “Oh, ok, so how do you get it out then?” And they said, “We don’t. We can’t.”
‘So that’s when it hit me. So I went through the surgery and then it was obvious it was going to be more difficult. So we tried IVF for about a year. That, as a lot of women know, is traumatic in itself.’
It took one of Jayne’s friends adopting for the to-be parents to fall in love with the idea.
She added: ‘I went to see this little boy and I wanted to bring him home.’
