BBC Radio 2’s Rylan Clark opened up about a moment of self-doubt after receiving a baffling text from his mum. During his Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2, Rylan shared with listeners how he was thrown into confusion by a text from his mum asking, “My mum’s just texted me, (saying) ‘how old are you this year? 36 or 37?’”
This led to a humorous moment where even Rylan began to question his own age, admitting: “I started doubting myself then, I was like ‘I’m 37’ and then I was like ‘am I?’ I just had to Google myself.”
In another light-hearted exchange on his show a few weeks earlier, the Celebrity Gogglebox star expressed his delight at seeing his colleague Liza Tarbuck at the studio, saying: “I was thinking last night, I was very, very tired, and I was like ‘at least I get to cuddle Liza tomorrow, she’ll give me a little cuddle’.”
He also mentioned looking forward to chatting with her later, adding: “I’m going to chat to you later but I had to just say hello to you now.” Rylan has been a familiar face in the entertainment world since his breakout on X-Factor in 2012, followed by a win on Celebrity Big Brother the next year, and his career continues to flourish, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Rylan Clark, formerly known for his stint in reality TV, has carved out a successful career as a host and is now a familiar face on some of the nation’s favourite shows. Notably, he’s become an integral part of the presenting squad on ITV’s This Morning.
Furthermore, in 2019, Rylan joined the celebrity lineup on Channel 4’s hit show Celebrity Gogglebox, sharing the sofa with his mum, Linda Clark. However, it was back in 2018 when Rylan celebrated a new milestone in his hosting journey, taking over BBC Radio 2’s ‘Rylan On Saturday’ after Zoe Ball switched to an earlier time slot.
On his Radio 2 appointment, he expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m so excited and honoured to be joining the BBC Radio 2 family. I can’t wait to get started and look forward to being in the studio from the New Year.”
He went on to say: “After stepping in for the amazing Zoe Ball over the summer, working with her fantastic team, I’m thrilled that I’ll be working with them again to fill listeners’ Saturday afternoons with fun, great music and a lot of laughter.”
