The famous Britain’s Got Talent star shocked her fans with the announcement that she had suffered a minor stroke last April. We haven’t seen her perform for a pretty long time, and she herself even doubted whether she could perform at all after her health deteriorated. Yet, Susan is famous for her brilliant capacity to overcome struggles after all, and now we can cheer up with her as we watch her long-awaited return to the stage.

The last time she performed was in 2019.

Susan Boyle amazed fans with her fascinating Britain’s Got Talent audition back in 2009. She experienced overnight fame since then. She released the UK’s best-selling record of all time, had 2 Grammy nominations, and even made TV cameos.

She sold more than 20 million albums around the globe. The Spice Girls star, Mel B, described Boyle’s voice as “angelic.” Though, the American all-star version of the show in 2019 was the last time Boyle performed on stage due to her deteriorating health.

This year, she finally came back to BGT as a guest.

The Scottish singer made a surprise return to Britain’s Got Talent with a guest appearance in the finals, where comedian Vigo Venn won the competition. On stage, she joined the London cast of Les Misérables and sang her original audition song, I Dreamed a Dream.

After the performance, she was asked how it felt to be back at BGT after 14 years. “It feels great,” she said. “It is extra special for me actually because last April there, I suffered a minor stroke. I have fought like crazy to get back on stage. And I have done it.”

She feared she might never be able to speak or sing.

Susan feared she might never sing again. “For the past year,” the star posted on her Facebook page, “I have worked so hard to get my speech and singing back, with the sole aim of being able to sing on stage again.”

After her performance, Simon Cowell commented, “Susan, we owe you so much, and I knew you weren’t well, but if anyone was going to come back, you were going to come back because it wouldn’t be the same without you.”

Besides a stroke, she has been diagnosed with autism.

Besides the stroke, back in 2013, Boyle was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. It’s a form of autism, which means she may struggle with her emotions and have difficulty in social situations, often unable to recognize non-verbal cues.

For a long time, she believed it was all because she suffered slight brain damage at birth. Yet, being diagnosed finally gave her a “clearer understanding” of her condition, which thankfully didn’t prevent her from doing that historical audition and conquering millions of hearts around the world.

Despite the fame, she’s able to stay grounded and never forgets where she came from.

Susan has lived in the same semi-detached house for the last 60 years. She wasn’t keen to swap it for a more luxurious house after becoming famous and doesn’t plan to move anywhere in the near future. This building simply holds a lot of sentimental value for her.

“It’s to do with the memories of your house and your upbringing,” she said, “you need to take stock of things and maybe see where you come from and where your roots lie. It’s best to be grounded and with your roots. It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things maybe you shouldn’t say.”

Susan Boyle is famous for finding her own happy ending after all the difficulties and struggles and having a pretty tough life altogether. She is living proof that we need to believe in ourselves and move forward no matter what life has in store for us around the corner.
