Ayesha Hazarika struggled to answer questions being thrown at her by GMB’s Richard Madeley as fans at home were left fuming.

Fans of Good Morning Britain were fuming on Thursday as a guest on the ITV breakfast show found herself in a heated exchange with Richard Madeley. Former political adviser to senior Labour Party politicians, Ayesha Hazarika, appeared on the show as she was expected to give her thoughts on yesterday’s spending review, delivered by Chancellor Rachel Reeves.

However, the show’s guest appeared to go off on a tangent, with host Richard Madeley being forced to step in. He had asked her a question about the UK’s taxes, with her sidestepping it completely. She said: “We have for such a long time, and rightly so, bemoaned the fact that we have a lack of confidence in this country about building things.” She then began listing off things that the government have gone wrong in before the ITV host cut in. “You’re not answering my question,” he accused. “The question was about tax.”

That was when Ms Hazarika admitted that she could not answer the question. “I can’t answer that, I’m being honest, Richard,” she shared. “I’m not in the treasury. I can’t answer that question and we are not going to know that until we get closer to the budget.”

The ITV host added: “But we have to discuss it.” That was when the guest shut his questioning down, saying: “We will.

“And we will be speculating about tax all over the summer, but I just think that for just 24 hours after the spending review, it is important that some long term decisions have been made.”

As the heated exchange went on, fans at home were feeling less than impressed. Taking to social media, they urged for GMB to “get her off”.

One frustrated fan wrote on X/Twitter: “@GMB Get Her off the show damm labour grrrrrrr cant stand her.” Another added: ” MORE squawking from @ayeshahazarika. Get some elocution lessons Ayesha, it might improve you(?) Having you on @GMB is as insane as the ever present Kwasi Kwarteng. Who else would give him airtime offering ADVICE when he tanked our economy with @trussliz.”

“Ayesha like all Labour don’t want to talk about the real world only what exists in their heads #GMB,” a third person penned. Meanwhile, one more said: “Ayesha deflect deflect deflect #GMB.”
