The long-running ITV presenter was dealt a savage blow today as it was revealed her show time has been axed.

Lorraine Kelly posted a poignant message to fans just hours before news broke that her long-running ITV morning show was being brutally cut in length. The 65-year-old is currently at home recovering after undergoing “preventative” surgery in hospital to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Earlier today ITV announced major changes to its broadcasting schedule, revealing that Lorraine and Loose Women are to have their usual time slots axed. From January 2026, Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes to run from 6 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.
In the 2026 daytime schedule, Lorraine will no longer have her usual hour long 9am slot, and will instead run from 9.30am-10am, on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year. During the weeks Lorraine is not on air, GMB will run from 6am to 10am. In addition, Loose Women will continue to air for one hour from 12.30pm, but again on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year.

Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV’s Media and Entertainment Division, explained, “Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.
“These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever.”
The change in timing will be a huge blow to Lorraine’s loyal fans who tune in every day to the veteran TV presenter dose of celebrity gossip, fashion trends and conversational news points. The ITV stalwart joined the channel in 1993 when she was one of the launch presenters of GMTV. It wasn’t long before she became host of the show, joining Eamonn Holmes as co-presenter on the sofa in March that year.
Lorraine has always been a hit with viewers and she was given her own segment when GMTV rebranded in 2000 and she fronted LK Today. Then, in 2009 the show was renamed GMTV with Lorraine. Despite GMTV getting axed in 2010 and being replaced with Daybreak, Lorriane’s popularity only grew and she was given her very own show, Lorraine.
Daybreak was quickly replaced with Good Morning Britain, which is still going today, and Lorraine’s tenure has remained as the queen of breakfast TV. However, with Lorraine’s show being cut to just 30 minutes and only on for 30 weeks out of the year, and with her recent health issues, many are speculating if the show might be heading for an official end.
