Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton du Beke was on holiday with his family – but the trip went awry when he became stuck on a snowy mountain.

Anton du Beke has detailed the unfortunate experience of being stuck on a snowy mountain during a skiing trip. The Strictly Come Dancing judge spoke on his new podcast, Putt and Strutt, and detailed about when he went skiing with his wife – despite having no snowsport experience. His family recently went skiing again during the half-term break – but Anton decided to stay at home.

He said: “I don’t ski, so I just went along. It’s a horrible holiday to go along on if you don’t ski. I have no interest, and I’m so fearful of the old pins.” Anton then told his listeners that he ‘wandered’ down a snowy mountain but became waist-deep in snow and became stuck. They went up the ski lift back up to the top. Not that far, maybe a few hundred metres,” he added. “And I thought “I won’t get on the thing, I’ll have a wander – I’ll walk up”, the chair lift. I said, “I won’t take that, I’ll walk up”.

“And you might ask why, bearing in mind I hadn’t got the gear on. I think I had a pair of jeans on. I had a snowshoe, just like a tennis racket on the bottom of the shoes, just like a normal trainer really, but you can walk on slippery surfaces with it, but you can’t walk in waist-deep snow in them.”

Anton explained: “I got halfway up and got a bit stuck. I was like, “This is so embarrassing”. I’ve walked up a hill of snow – everybody else is skiing in all the gear. I had visions of me being rescued on the side of this hill. It was so humiliating. I forced myself to walk up. I froze to death, I was wet – one of the most humiliating things ever.”

In other news, Anton once toyed with the notion of becoming a professional golfer before his dance floor days took flight. The talented 58-year-old, boasting an impressive handicap of one, merges his love for golf and chat in the all-new podcast ‘Putt And Strut,’ alongside Sky Sports host Sarah Stirk.

You’re always striving for the next level. You can’t perfect golf, and dancing is the same thing.”

His flair on the dance floor has undeniably polished his prowess on the green. Anton elaborates: “There’s an element of correlation between golf and dance in motion, timing, rhythm, and movement. It’s about the hips.

“If I had gone down the golf route, I would’ve approached it with the same fervor as dance – but whether it would’ve paid off, well, that’s another story,” reports the Mirror.
