Fans of Emmerdale have noticed a huge change in one character as they fear that a storyline could become dark. Viewers have noted a major change in the appearance of Bear Wolf, played by Joshua Richards, as he seems to have lost a considerable amount of weight.

In recent scenes, he has also completely shaved his head bald, and fans also noticed changes in his temperament as they predicted that the character may actually be quite ill. Monday evening’s episode saw Bear flinging a toolbox around in anger, but it was unclear what was actually wrong, as he had been trying to fix his motorbike. However, the outburst of anger is not an isolated event, as audiences have watched Bear growing increasingly irritated and lashing out in recent weeks. But now more and more fans are thinking that something could be seriously wrong with the beloved Emmerdale character, with them taking to social media to share theories.

One viewer suggested on X/Twitter: “Is Bear going to have dementia? #emmerdale” Another theorised: “Paddy tried to top himself. I was wondering if maybe it was a hereditary thing?” While one more shared: “Wouldn’t be surprised if Bear ends up having a heart attack or something #Emmerdale.”

Others were quick to applaud the ITV soap star for his acting, with one writing: “Some great method acting by Bear.#Emmerdale.” Noting his thinner appearance, another added: “It might take getting used to seeing the new slimmed down Bear. #Emmerdale congrats to the actor for doing what he did.” “Bear looks great he’s lost alot of weight #Emmerdale,” one more noted.

Recently, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) has been expressing concern over his father Bear’s escalating erratic behaviour. Among Bear’s antics are keeping Paddy and his wife Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) awake with loud television and leaving his sleeping pills within reach of young Eve.

Joshua Richards, who portrays the soap’s character, teased what could be in store for Bear. At a press event, he said: “He alters somewhat, he’s not too good here (pointing to his head) for some reason which we don’t know why.

“He’s being slightly erratic emotionally and with his mood swings. There’s periods of forgetfulness and the kind of things that happen with a man of his age. There is a change there and there will be more of a stripped back Bear. Emotionally, he will be put through the ringer.”

The actor continued: “So, I think there’s something big coming up for him which I’m really looking forward to. For anybody who is lucky enough to work on this wonderful thing, when you get a nice juicy storyline, it is so fulfilling.”
