Big Brother star Marcello Spooks revealed how his collaboration with Junior Andre came to life

Peter Andre’s son, Junior Andre, has made waves in the music industry with his debut single Slide, which recently topped the UK iTunes chart. But how did this track come to be, and what role did Big Brother star Marcello Spooks play in its creation?It all started when Peter and his son Junior reached out to Marcello after hearing his music. Marcello, now one of Junior’s best friends, explained how the collaboration began. Speaking to The Mirror at the Nominal London Fashion Show during Fashion Week, Marcello shared the story. Nominal is a fashion brand known for showcasing contemporary and stylish designs, as well as collaborating with both established and emerging musicians and models.

At the event, Marcello revealed that he wrote Slide in his bedroom before bringing it to the studio, where Junior immediately liked it. In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Marcello said: “I wrote the song Slide, his first single, I wrote the song which was the most successful song we did together, and I co-wrote Only One. I co-wrote the song Only One with Junior and another girl called Katie. Slide, I wrote that song on my own.”

Marcello then explained how the collaboration began, recalling when he was discovered by SBTV’s Jamal Edwards, who has since tragically passed away. Marcello said: “I did a freestyle about Uber Eats back in 2020. Jamal saw it, wanted to shoot a video for it. He took me to the studio to shoot, film and everything. In the mean time I met this label, shot the video and released it. A few months later the label called me and said we have Peter Andre and his son here, they really like your music. How do you feel about writing for Junior. He’s preparing to release.

“I said cool, I went into for a camp with all these writers and I ended up writing Slide in my bedroom. I wrote Slide in my bedroom, I brought it to the studio. Usually we write songs in there [the studio] but I said ‘listen guys I’ve written this song for Junior. what do you think of it?’ Junior really liked it and it went from there. The track, which has now gained millions of views, marks an important step in Junior’s career as he follows in the footsteps of his father, Peter, who has had several hit songs.

Marcello revealed that their relationship grew beyond just a professional collaboration, saying: “Junior is one of my best friends now.” Junior, the 19-year-old son of singer Peter and TV personality Katie Price, has been in the public eye for years. Slide went viral following its release, and Junior celebrated the track’s success on social media. “The love you guys have shown today has been crazy and you have got Slide in at Number 1 in the iTunes charts! Now we just need to keep it going,” he shared with his followers on Instagram. He also thanked his mum, Katie, who he noted: “is always supportive of me.”

Proud dad Peter was the first to congratulate Junior on the tune, writing: “Amazing son.” His Princess also sent congratulations, writing: “so proud” alongside a red heart emoji. In 2024, Marcello joined the Big Brother Season 21. He described himself as “cheeky,” “sarcastic,” but also “loving.” The star came second place in the series.
