Angellica Bell’s husband Michael Underwood has teased that the TV presenter may finall spill the real reason she was axed from The Martin Lewis Money Show last year on Celebrity Big Brother. The 49-year-old presenter, renowned for her work in children’s television and daytime shows, was unceremoniously ‘sacked’ from the ITV programme after a six-year stint alongside finance guru Martin Lewis, 52, reports the Mirror.
In 2023, Angellica was informed that her services were no longer needed on financial programme, which she had been a part of since 2017. The former children’s TV host had joined the BAFTA-nominated show in its seventh series and had also taken on presenting duties for the revamped version of The Gadget Show – Shop Smart, Save Money. However, her new role was deemed a ‘conflict of interest’ as it evolved into another consumer money-saving show, leading to her swift removal from the ITV series.

Following her exit from The Martin Lewis Money Show Live, Angellica was succeeded by ex-Olympian and broadcaster Jeanette Kwakye.
A source at the time commented: “Angellica was a valued part of the team having joined in series seven, but, given the importance of maintaining a clear, individual and distinct identity for the show it was felt that her new role meant she would not be offered a new contract to continue on the Martin Lewis Money Show Live.”
In 2023, ITV responded to these claims, saying: “Angellica is not working on the Martin Lewis Money Show Live, however, the relationship with her remains amicable and we are working with her on other forthcoming programmes.
“The Martin Lewis Money Show Live production team did not become aware that Angelica’s new show would be called Shop Smart, Save Money until that programme was announced to the media in late September, with filming for it involving Angellica having already started prior to that. An amicable discussion was held with her regarding the situation.”

Now more than two years on from her shock exit, her husband Michael has hinted that she might now reveal the truth behind her departure from the show while living in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
In a TikTok video posted on Monday night (April 7), Michael expressed his excitement about Angellica entering the iconic house, which led fans to ask about her and Martin. One fan wrote: “Why did she stop working with Martin Lewis? I thought they were great together.”
Michael cryptically replied: “It’s not for me to say but she might talk about it on Celebrity Big Brother.” The TV star was quick to rally behind his wife, Angellica, bursting with pride as he took to social media to honour the TV presenter on Mother’s Day.
The proud husband and father of their two children shared a heartwarming snapshot of Angellica brandishing some playful toy flowers, alongside his loving message: “I told you I’d get you some flowers. Happy Mother’s Day to the best mum our children could ever have.”
Meanwhile, Angellica made a dazzling debut in the Celebrity Big Brother house, capturing attention in a bright yellow mini-dress on Monday (April 7th). The popular presenter, who first graced television screens as a roving reporter for Channel 4’s Big Breakfast back in the late ’90s, really came into her own when she joined CBBC as a presenter in 2000 at the tender age of 24.
During the noughties, Angellica became a familiar face as she led an array of programmes including That’s Genius!, Xchange, 50/50, and Short Change. She then took the helm of The Saturday Show on CBBC from 2004 to 2005, eventually bidding farewell to CBBC in December 2006.
In the ensuing years, her career has flourished with appearances on The One Show and steering The Martin Lewis Money Show from 2020 until 2023. Not only that, but Angellica triumphed over Dev Griffin and Ulrika Jonsson to take the Celebrity MasterChef title in 2017.
Now, she is set to charm audiences once more, hoping for another victory inside the CBB house. Angellica sharing the house with an eclectic mix of celebrities including influencer and singer JoJo Siwa, EastEnders icon Patsy Palmer, 90s pop star Chesney Hawkes, and Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke for the next few weeks.
