The Wanted frontman Max George revealed he has undergone a second heart operation after having a pacemaker fitted back in December.

The Wanted star Max George has issued another major health update to his loyal legion of fans after undergoing a second gruelling heart operation.

The 36-year-old underwent the implantation of a pacemaker back in December after an urgent dash to A&E with his mother due to suspected heart complications.

However, the singer has recently shared that the initial surgery didn’t quite go as planned, reports the Mirror. Taking to Instagram on Monday (February 17), the musician revealed that he was forced to return to hospital to fix the issues and confessed he’s been having a “pretty rough time.”

Sharing a snap from his hospital bed, Max could be seen wearing a pair of headphones, surrounded by medical equipment including cords across his body and a nasal cannula, which aids his oxygen supply.

He then posted a selfie of himself in a bathroom mirror after the second procedure, displaying a new scar beneath his ink commemorating his late bandmate Tom Parker with his birth date

He captioned the post: “A few weeks ago I had to go back into hospital after having some physical symptoms in my chest. It turned out that one of the leads was placed too far into my heart.

“The second surgery took about 2 hours. Luckily, it was a success and they kindly let me listen to Oasis the whole time! It’s been a setback, but it’s just one of those things. I’ve had a few complications the last couple of months but I’m having loads of tests to make sure everything is all good.

“It can take a few weeks / months for the inflammation of my heart to subside (myocarditis) but I’m sure I’ll be back on top form in no time! Thanks everyone for all your lovely messages and support through what’s been a pretty rough time. Means a lot.”

It didn’t take long before his famous friends and loyal legion of fans flooded to the comments to pass on their well wishes online. Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas penned: “What a soldier [heart emoji] Sending all my love.”

The Wanted bandmate Jay McGuinness added: “Ouch, ouch, ouch. Proud of the way you’re rolling with the punches Georgy” as another echoed: “Love you buddy. Get well soon [heart emoji].”

I had myocarditis too, it will clear up. Get well soon, take it slowly [heart emoji].”

Another wrote: “I’m glad they sorted you out quickly. Hopefully now you can recover fully [heart emoji] wishing you well” as a third chimed in with: “[prayer emoji, heart emoji] Stay strong, stay positive. Angel blessings all the way Max.”

Tragically, this health scare isn’t the only concern Max has faced recently. Last month, he disclosed the need for additional investigations into enlarged lymph nodes found in his lungs and was prepped for a biopsy.

Reflecting on this testing ordeal during, Max detailed the harrowing process and told The Sun: “The doctor did warn me there is a small chance that I could lose my voice.

“That was pretty worrying, but I decided I needed to take the risk. The biopsy was pretty gnarly, it’s a camera with prongs on the end that goes down your throat. It was painful. The recovery was tough, I had chest pain and was coughing up blood for five days,” he recounted.
