Kate Garraway’s Life Stories received an influx of complaints from viewers who slammedĀ Jeremy Kyle. The broadcaster, 58, opened up about his life with Kate, 57, on the new series of theĀ ITVĀ programme which kicked off on Tuesday (April 1). The TV icon discussed several different topics, from his upbringing, journey to stardom, the rise and fall of The Jeremy Kyle Show and his cancer diagnosis.

But just minutes into the programme, viewers headed to social media to complain about the star’s appearance on the show as they called out ITV.Ā One wrote: ” Kate Garraway’s life stories with Jeremy Kyle, WTAF He clearly still has ‘friends’ over @ITV there literally is no other explanation for this, the man is despised.” Another fumed: “Jeremy Kyle having a fawning ‘Life Stories’ made for him is utterly contemptible. Doesn’t the name Steve Dymond mean anything to @ITV. Celebrating a man born into immense privilege whose made a career out of ‘punching down’ is beyond the pale.”

A third claimed: “ITV is trying to rebrand Jeremy Kyle with Kate Garraway life’s stories. He exploited vulnerable working-class people and was never really held accountable.”

Another echoed: “On his knees! Desperately seeking a TV comeback. Despite his privileged & well-educated background, he still craves our sympathy. He thrives on the force of his own personality! Just doesn’t land. P.S. Stop trying to steal the spotlight of @kategarraway.”

A fifth furious fan asked: ” Why the f**k are @itv giving #jeremykyle more airtime on #Lifestories.”

However, others were delighted with his appearance as one declared: “I’ve always rated Jeremy Kyle!”

“Loving the first #Lifestories tonight,” penned a second as another added: “Confession… I do miss the #jeremykyle show.”

The Jeremy Kyle Show came to an abrupt end after 17 seasons in 2019 after Steve Dymond, a 63-year-old construction worker who appeared as a guest on the show, took his life shortly after filming.

The presenter was cleared of suggestions that “acts or omissions” on his part “may have caused or contributed to” the tragedy. Speaking to Kate, Jeremy admitted that he knew the show needed to end.

“I understand entirely that the Kyle Show had to fall on its sword,” he said. “We launched in 2005, that was just before the advent of social media – and I think that changed everything. You can’t say boo to a goose now. Understandably, shows like that have gone by the by.”
