Stephen Graham admits ‘UPS AND DOWNS’ with wife in rare family insight
Actor Stephen Graham has opened up about his relationship with his wife of 13 years, Hannah Walters, and their two children, Grace and Alfie, as he shared a rare family insight

Actor Stephen Graham has given fans a rare glimpse into his family life, discussing the “ups and downs” he experiences with his wife Hannah Walters.
During a recent interview with The Times, the Liverpool-born star shared an insight into life at home with his wife and two children in Leicestershire. Stephen said: “We have ups and downs, of course. Luckily, though, the relationship we both have with our children is beautiful – but it takes work.”
He also shared a poignant moment when his son’s friend revealed that his father had never expressed love or affection towards him.
Reflecting on his own upbringing, Stephen recalled a time filled with “a lot of laughter”. He also took the opportunity to criticise the portrayal of working-class people in his industry, stating: “My childhood was full of it (laughter) and being able to represent where I’m from is integral to me. Too often I’ll watch stuff and think they’re treating the working class like an art project. It’s very condescending.”

Stephen and Hannah, who first met at the Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance in Sidcup, south-east London, are parents to daughter Grace, born in 2005, and son Alfie, born in 2007. After first setting eyes on each other whilst training to become actors, Stephen and Hannah tied the knot in June 2008.
The duo have frequently shared screen space over the years. They’ve made an impressive 13 appearances together in recent times, featuring in films and TV shows such as Boiling Point, Walk Like A Panther, Funny Cow and Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Stephen’s most recent on-screen performance in the hotly-anticipated six-part Disney+ series A Thousand Blows is set to air later this month. Playing veteran boxer Sugar Goodson in the new series, from the creators of Peaky Blinders, Stephen also worked as one of several executive producers on the show.
Tonight (Friday, February 14), Stephen will be joining a star-studded line-up including Pamela Anderson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sean Hayes and Ross Kemp on the Graham Norton Show, which airs on BBC One at 10.40pm.
