The One Show hosts Alex Jones and JB Gill issued a heartfelt statement at the start of Thursday’s live show

The One Show host Alex Jones said “so well deserved” after a special BBC announcement on Thursday (March 27).

As the latest edition of the BBC show unfolded, Alex and her co-presenter JB Gill settled on the iconic green sofa to delve into the day’s most talked-about stories.

Joining them in the studio was Hollywood sensation Danielle Brooks, who was there to chat about the upcoming Minecraft film, and Johnny Ball, who was eager to share tales from his new autobiography, My Previous Life in Comedy.

However, before diving into the guest interviews, JB paused to extend heartfelt congratulations to the crew at Morning Live for their recent BAFTA nomination.

“Now, we have got to say congratulations first off to our sister show Morning Live, who earlier today, were nominated for Best Daytime Show in the TV BAFTAs,” JB announced, reports the Mirror.

“Oh, it is so well deserved. Congratulations!” chimed in Alex.

The eagerly anticipated list of contenders for this year’s TV BAFTAs was unveiled earlier today, with Alan Cumming gearing up to host the prestigious event at the Royal Festival Hall in May.

In the race for Best Daytime Show, Morning Live finds itself up against Clive Myrie’s Caribbean Adventure, Loose Women, and Richard Osman’s House of Games.

Meanwhile, This Morning was notably absent from the nominations for the second consecutive year, despite the fresh hosting duo of Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

Leading the pack with a staggering eight nominations is the Netflix phenomenon Baby Reindeer, vying for awards in categories such as Lead Actor, Supporting Actress, and Limited Drama.

ITV’s highly praised drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Disney’s Rivals and Apple TV’s Slow Horses each have six nominations.

The BBC is leading the broadcasters with a whopping 49 nominations, followed by Channel 4 with 18 and ITV with 14.

Morning Live previously clinched Best Factual Series at the Royal Television Society’s North West Awards in 2023. The programme scooped up three more awards for Best Factual Series, Best Inclusive Practices and Best Presenter for Gethin Jones in November 2024.
