Rylan Clark shared an emotional tribute to his mum Linda on her 73rd birthday, after a sudden hospital dash almost ruined their plans. The beloved presenter had to cancel his BBC Radio 2 show last Friday after revealing that Linda had been rushed to hospital.

But in a heartwarming turn of events, Rylan confirmed on Sunday that Linda had been discharged just in time to celebrate her special day. “Happy Birthday to the best mum. So glad ur home for it. Love you x,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos showing the pair dressed glamorously and enjoying holidays together.

Linda’s health update brought relief to fans, as Rylan previously explained, “Antibiotics have worked. Letting her home on orals. So she’s home for her bday.” Earlier, he thanked the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital, and added with a bit of humour, “She’s now worried about wheelie bins going out again.”

The birthday post was quickly flooded with warm wishes from celebrities. Ruth Langsford said she was “so pleased you made it home,” while Scarlett Moffatt, Ella Henderson, Holly Willoughby, Cat Deeley and Alexandra Burke all sent loving messages to “Mummy Linda.”

Linda, who’s long battled Crohn’s disease and underwent major surgery after a fall in Marbella in 2023, won national affection through her witty appearances alongside Rylan on Celebrity Gogglebox. Despite her ongoing health challenges—including a previous six-week hospital stay—Rylan assured fans that she’s “on the mend” and even “chatting away with a lovely lady next to her.”

The close-knit mother-son duo were sorely missed from the most recent Gogglebox series, but fans are hopeful this milestone birthday marks a turning point.
