Brit Awards host Jack Whitehall told Danny Dyer “you can’t say that” – but fans are fuming.
ITV abruptly cut the sound for viewers of the Brit Awards at home when Danny Dyer dropped an expletive about Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The EastEnders star was chatting to host Jack Whitehall about his new film Marching Powder, though a lot of the speech was muted for viewers at home. He went on to bring up UK politics, branding Starmer a “c***” – and forcing Jack to yell at him “you can’t say that word.”
Jack started the conversation by asking Danny about his film, wondering if he had “a lot of lines” – and Danny said “probably not enough”. Asked to summarise the flick, Danny said: “I probably can’t say. I don’t want to upset anyone.” But Jack insisted: “You’re not going to upset anyone at the Brits. I’m pretty sure you can say what you like.”
But as Danny spoke, comparing the film to Bridget Jones, he was abruptly cut off – proving Jack wrong. Jack argued: “You can say anything – not that word, seriously! This is ITV! Have we got a beeper? I don’t know where to go from there.”

Danny apologised, insisting: “Well you did ask me, Jack.” He went on to make another controversial quip about the PM.
Jack quipped that Danny’s comments would “start a riot” in the O2 Arena – but fans at home slammed the network for “censoring” the comment. One fumed: “It’s after the watershed and it’s the Brits… stop the f***ing mute button you woke t***! What did you expect asking Danny Dyer a question? It’s great TV.” But someone else hit back: “The average IQ of this country is appalling, it’s not woke it’s the TV regulations set by Ofcom.”
Someone else said: “Danny Dyer just called Keir Starmer a see you next Tuesday live at the Brits. Give that man a medal.” While another joked: “Danny Dyer needs a personal bleep monitor.” Someone else said: “Danny Dyer being Danny Dyer at the #BRITs2025 but when everything keeps getting muted, we don’t get the joke!”

Sitting next to Danny was a mysterious woman dressed as a horse, who Jack seemed baffled by – asking if she was part of the movie too. But when he was met with silence, he joked: “Seems more of a ketamine lady to me.”
In actuality, it was German DJ HorsegiirL, who shot to fame with her track My Barn My Rules and goes by the alias Stella Stallion.
